I have never seen one Christian quote that says what 1 Peter 4 says about the tests and fiery ordeals that wīll come our way and that we will be censured and suffer abuse because we bare the name of Christ.
You wĪll be ill treated and you wĪll be found guilty of many things that you most definitely are not guilty of. 1 Peter 4: 14 en 16.
If your Christianity remains uplifting for you and you are being patted and admired by everyone, and no other Christian can teach yóú……..then surely there is something seriously wrong with what you are busy with, under the “Name of Christ”.
1 Corinthians 12:12-31 is clear on the body of Christ as a unity.
Nowhere in the Bible it is written that Christianity….. (truly following Christ)…..will be all moonshine and roses and prosperous and sweet and loving and grand.
Nope. It is many times a hard and a lonesome path. Because you will NOT say nor live (do) the way others would want you to. Even some people who is closest to you will turn their backs.
You don’t even have to go and “find” this kind of persecution or ask for people to revile you……it will happen. Period. If you stay firm in Christ’s truth. See Matthew 5:11 ; 1 Peter 4…….
This is also not about trying to be a martyr yourself. Many years ago a wonderful, old Christian lady, who has been banned out of her church, told me that I do not have to “crucify myself”….. the persecution will come.
This old lady only started a Womens prayer group in her own house, without inviting a church elder to be present. The Scribes and the Pharisees remain with us, till this very day.
Christians simply cannot spend the rest of their lives living by human appetites and desires, but for what God wills. Neither can Christians force or manipulate others to live or believe as theý do, which unfortunately still many do.
The Holy Spirit does not force. He is not a manipulator. He is our Teacher, He reveals and reflects Christ, He glorifies Christ…….not himself neither does He, the Holy Spirit, glorify human beings. 1 John 2:27. John 14.
And most certainly, the Holy Spirit does not controle people, but council people…..minister to people. “Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty (emancipation from bondage, freedom).” 2 Corinthians 3:17.
Be sure someone else’s preaching /teaching is glorifying Jesus Christ, and not themselves……….or step away.
